Updated 2013-02-02

Project aims to observe the state of algal blooming in summer through a network of observation sites. Monitoring is coordinated by Finnish Environmental Institute and implemented by the regional centres for environment together with private observing personnel.

If no (or only part of data are reported to a TDC), where and how are (other) data stored?
Data stored in a database run by Finnish Environmental Institute (SYKE).
Samples/specimens archived in specimen banks?
No

Methods & Procedures

Procedures and methodology used for, e.g., sampling and sample storage, sample pretreatment, extraction and analysis, including which laboratories are involved, references to methods employed, etc.

Intensity of algal blooming is assessed visually in scale of 0-3. Samples are identified for potentially toxic cyanobacteria.
